Every year, without fail, Google celebrates Earth Day and SEW has been on the lookout for how Google will honor it. Earth Day is tomorrow, April 22, but the Google Doodle has already been sighted in New Zealand, Australia, and India.

You can get a preview of it below.

However, more exciting than the Earth Day logo is the massive investment Google has been making in clean energy this month.

Solar Energy

April 7th - Google agreed it's first clean-tech investment in Europe, pumping $5 million into a German solar power plant based in Brandenburg near Berlin.

April 12th - Google invested $168 million in BrightSource Energy to fund the Ivanpah solar energy project in the Mojave Desert. It is the world's largest solar power tower.

Wind Energy

April 18th - Google invested in $100 million in the Shepherds Flat Wind Farm in Oregon. Currently under construction, when completed, it is expected to be the largest wind farm in the world.

April 21st - Today Google agreed to buy all the energy to power it's Mayes County data center for the next 20 years from the NextEra Energy Resources' Minco II wind farm in Oklahoma.

On the topic of tomorrow's Earth Day logo, Google doodler, Jennifer Hom told SEW:

"For the past 10 years, Google has celebrated Earth Day on our homepages around the world. It's another small way that our company, which dedicates time and effort to environmental causes, helps spread awareness of this important and exciting day. This year's doodle is a fun and playful depiction of different habitats around the world."

That being well, in April alone, Google has taken so much direct action to honor their commitment to be a carbon-free company that tomorrow's Google Doodle should be seen as much more than a simple gesture.
