Attending one of these search engine or information industry conferences is a great way to immerse yourself in knowledge and hobnob with some of the savviest people working in the web search arena.
If you're considering attending a conference, the list below provides a wide range of options and formats. Each of these conferences offers lots of information about searching and search engines. Some, like the Search Engine Strategies conference, focus primarily on marketing issues and the technical operations of search services.
Others, like Web Search University, are highly immersive learning events, designed to teach you how to improve your searching skills. Each of the others offer unique sessions, speakers and events, and I find them all invaluable events for both information and camaraderie. I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much I learn at these conferences from the wide range of experts giving talks.
Both Danny Sullivan and I speak at many of these conferences, and I've indicated which ones are currently on our calendars. If you decide to attend one that we're at, please stop by after one of our sessions and say hello.
